Regulation of LSD1 activity

New publication in Protein Science: An acidic patch in the unstructured N-terminus modulates LSD1 activity

A new study from the Rathert Laboratory uncovers an important regulatory element within the intrinsically disordered N-terminal region of lysine-specific demethylase 1 (LSD1). While LSD1’s catalytic core is well characterized, this work identifies a conserved acidic patch that significantly influences enzymatic efficiency and interactions with regulatory cofactors. These findings provide fresh mechanistic insight into how LSD1 activity is modulated at the structural level, expanding our understanding of its role in epigenetic regulation.
