Enzymes are promising catalysts for organic synthesis, which enable efficient and sustainable manufacturing processes and therefore represent an attractive alternative to conventional processes.

We combine rational protein engineering and directed evolution with bioinformatics tools to identify enzymes for new reactions and to improve activities and selectivities. These enzymes can be used as isolated enzymes or combined in cascades with other biocatalysts.
